Hello Everyone,
"When we visited Kenya on the 8th of August (2002), we had the pleasure to have Benson Mugambi as a professional Safari Guide in the area of Nairobi National Park and Samburu Game Reserve. In a very intelligent and engaged manner he taught us about birds, mammals, reptiles, plants, landscapes and the inhabitants. Ben has made our safari-experience something out of the ordinary."
Hello Everyone,
The tour in Nairobi NP went very well; we saw a total of 107 species (between 11.30 and 6.00), of which not less than 26 species were new to me! Highlights (for me) were the Finfoot, a White-headed Saw-wing, Hartlaub's and White-bellied Bustard, Black-chested Snake-eagle, Quail-finch, Yellow-breasted Apalis, etc. Also saw the usual mammals, including 2 Black Rhinos. Shailesh is a good guide and has good knowledge about the local birds; him and the driver were waiting for me at the airport, and dropped me there again in the evening. So it really was a very enjoyable and interesting day - seeing so many species in such a short time really isn't possible over here in Switzerland.
"Since my first trip to Kenya, I have wanted to spend the time to do more bird watching but until this trip I did not have the opportunity. I lucked out by finding Ben's Ecological Safari's and I was not disappointed. I can't thank you enough (Asante sana sana) for being such excellent guides on my short weekend safari. You were able to accommodate my desire to do some serious bird watching in the limited time I had and you designed an itinerary that was perfect for my needs. Ben's expert knowledge of birds and Bernard's keen eyes combined to a total of 150 birds identified many rare for their area. More amazing was that Ben knew all of those birds. It made it so much fun to have a true naturalist and birding enthusiast to serve as my guide. I look forward to many more trips."
"NOWHERE IN AFRICA"
What impressed you most about Kenya?
"...Particularly the landscape! The expanse, the variety of nature! We searched for almost all of our locations north of Nairobi, away from the tourist areas. The landscape changes enormously, ranging from voluptuously green coffee and tea plantations and forests, to arid savannas, rolling hills, lake districts, and The gigantic Rift Valley.
………..When we first visited the country, there had been a catastrophic drought for three years already. And yet in spite of everything, the people were so friendly, laughing and giggling. Such joy of life. That really impressed me."
Hi everyone,
Ben and I went out on Saturday to spend the whole day at the Nairobi Game Park. We saw a lot of wildlife, mainly giraffes and antelopes close up. I got a great photo of a rare bird. Lunch time rolled around and the weather was hot. Ben was driving along a road that went to a river bed where it was cool and shady and decided it would be a great place to have lunch.
We checked around for warthogs and cats and got out. Across the river and up the ridge across from us on the very top of the ridge we could see some baboons. We sat and batched them for a while and ate. The baboons sent a scout down a bid lower to check us out. We kept and eye on them and noted that the rest of the group joined the scout. Then they came further down the ridge and disappeared. I had gotten a bit nervous and was keeping an eye out for them.
I had put my lunch in the car and Ben was getting the trunk open in case we had to leave. Ben was saying causually " Just putting things in the back in case they show up". Suddenly the baboons appeared about 10 feet away. I jumped in the car and shouted " Ben…..they are here NOW". He slammed down the trunk while I was opening the driver door for him. He jumped in just as a baboon jumped on the car and I got the windows rolled up. It was another exciting Ben’s safari!

Dear Ben,
Choosing Ben’s Ecological Safaris for our birding tour of Kenya to celebrate my 50th birthday was an inspired one! The choice could not have been better. This has truly been an experience of a lifetime……not only from a birding viewpoint; your depth of knowledge regarding Kenya’s birdlife (and how to locate them) knows no bounds. We are massively impressed with the efforts that you and your guides went to find the birds for us. But there was so much more, mammals, reptiles, insects, trees, flowers, and most of all companionship and personal attention. We take home so many treasured moments.
Please thank all the staff of Bestours for us especially Frank who looked after us so well upon arrival. We hope and pray for a successful and prosperous future for the company.
We will recommend BES to all our friends!
