Andrew holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Jomo Kenyatta University in Nairobi, which is located near where he was born and raised.

He begun working as a mechanical Engineering Technician and after sometime he began to paint professionally, about twelve years ago.

In order to become proficient in ornithological illustration he joined a Bird Watching group at the Nairobi Museum and Nature Kenya to learn about birds and their habits. 1n 1997 he was encouraged to paint butterflies and this made him pay much more attention to the plants, which butterflies feed on. This also led him to botanical painting and now he is one of the top East Africa’s Botanical, Ornithological and Butterflies painters.

He holds two bronze medals in Botanical Art from KIRSTENBOSCH BOTANICAL GARDENS in Cape Town. As well as being a keen member of East Africa Natural History Society, most of his illustrations are usually used in bird’s magazines and write ups with Nature Kenya and other conservation organizations.

Andrew is our part time bird, botanical and butterflies guide, as well as working more on the itineraries, where together with the office team he help arranging our East Africa’s Expeditions. He is also a professional photographer and also contribute in helping our clients with photography tips, where required. Since Andrew only paints all the birds, butterflies or plants and insects he has seen and photographed, he travel extensively looking for his painting subjects.

He currently specializes in watercolors paintings of Birds, Plants and Butterflies and his work has been exhibited in U.S.A, South Africa and Nairobi Kenya. If you are interested in looking at some of his paintings, please contact him through Email: ankamiti@yahoo.com, or through our contacts.
